The Democratic Temper Tantrum
Senator Harry "Sour Grapes" Reid (D) of Nevada, invoking Rule 21 has sent the Senate into a closed session.
Pretext?
The American People and the men and women serving in the Armed Forces deserve to know why pre-war intelligence was manipulated and/or fabricated to support President Bush's justification for invading Iraq-- A war in which more than 2,000 men and women have since lost their lives.
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald did not bring down the expected indictments. Nor did Fitzgerald affirm the belief and charge that Valerie Plame Wilson was outted as an undercover CIA operative. Naturally, Democrats are livid. Fitzgerald, by all democratic accounts, was a "Prosecutor's Prosecutor." He was the man with no axe to grind. A man for whom politics was a non-issue when it came to an investigation he was in charge of conducting. This was the man who would indict Rove, Libby, Cheney, and Bush. This was the man who was going to bring down the Bush White House.
But... Rove was not "Frog Marched" out of the White House last Friday, nor led to the Guillotine. Cheney was all but ignored. Bush? Ignored as well. Instead, the Left, for all their gleeful orgasmic zeal, had to settle for Libby and a 5 count indictment, none of which addressed the Left's assertion that "Bush Lied, and Soldiers Died."
So here we are, standing outside the Senate doors, wondering when Mr's Reid, Durbin, et al, will finish their tirade. "...Oh, the Humanity! Life is soooo Unfair! We Can't get Bush! We can't impale the Demon Rove. We can't get anyone but "Scooter" Libby. What a cruel, cruel world!!!!" The Left is cracking up. They may indeed have already lost it.
The Left doesn't care about the truth. If they did, they'd be forced to hold themselves equally complicit with the decision to institute Regime Change in Iraq, making them equally culpable in the deaths of 2,000+ American military personnel-- to say nothing of civilian contractors and journalists. The Left can't accept that Wilson is a liar-- won't even look at it. They can't accept that they had access to the same intelligence the White House did... and still voted twice to approve the invasion.
Get ready for the media blitz as well. They will defend Democrats to the bitter end, and then decry Republicans for squashing the truth. A truth, I might add, that exists only in the twisted minds of the "Extreme Left Wing" of the Democratic party. Which seems, at present, to encompass the entire Party.
Today's stunt is the latest by-product of their conviction that Bush stole the White House in 2000. When actually, it was Gore who actively sought to steal the Presidency.
UPDATE: My post is based on 15 minutes or so of Republican remarks given outside the Senate chamber. Here's a link to yet another "Poorly Sourced" article I just found at WorldNetDaily. Not suprisingly, my take is on the money. Looks like my mind is still as sharp as ever.
