a Broad Spectrum of Reaction...

The Daily Kos:
"Frist whined, "Senator Daschle never did anything like this." Damn right. A new sheriff is in town."

John Podhoretz:
"This is the sort of thing to make the Huffington Puffington people shriek with happiness and the Kossians to chortle with joy -- almost as much as Bush pulling Miers's nomination did for us... It may not work, but there's no sense pretending this is a dumb thing to do. It isn't."

The Lone Ranger:
"The spoiled brat Democratic Senators threw a tantrum today and forced the Senate into a closed-door session, effectively shutting it down... Good!"

Wonkette!
"Harry Reid just called a secret Senate session, the first in 20 years. No press, no aides, no Blackberries! And it's a great idea for the Democrats: No one is paying attention to their criticisms of the Iraq war build-up, so close the Senate! "The public has a right to know! Turn off the cameras!" "

TalkLeft:
"Over the past few months, and vividly last Friday, we’ve learned that we were given bad information. Americans were intentionally deceived. White House indictments confirm Republicans tried to silence critics and cover up the real intelligence."
As to TalkLeft's assertions... "Americans were intentionally deceived", "White House indictments yada, yada, yada..." Pure delusional fantasy. Fitzgeralds dog and pony show, claimed nothing of the sort.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada):
"The Libby indictment provides a window into what this is really about, how the administration manufactured and manipulated intelligence in order to sell the war in Iraq and attempted to destroy those who dared to challenge its actions."

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tennessee):
"Once again, it shows the Democrats use scare tactics, they have no conviction. They have no principles. They have no ideas. But this is the ultimate. Since I've been majority leader, I'll have to say, not with the previous Democratic leader or the current Democratic leader have ever I been slapped in the face with such an affront to the leadership of this grand institution."

Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kansas):
"The committee worked on the second phase of the review, but it has not been finished... Now we have this ... stunt 24 hours after their staff was informed that we were moving to closure next week, If that's not politics, I'm not standing here... [And in the end] we have agreed to do what we already agreed to do."
