"O Unity, O Unity, of all the trees most lovely...."

It wasn't Kumbaya, but it was God Bless America, and our elected leaders managed to set aside the bickering to show a little unity on this most solemn of occasions. It would be wonderful to see it last long enough for the party of Kennedy and the party of Bush to roll up their sleeves and together fight against our common enemy... instead of each other.

Ya know, the November election really *is* the closet thing wee could ever have to a referendum on the war in Iraq.

Each side will give it its best shot -- many on the Right with honest prayer, many on the Left with honest prayer, but many more, I think, for selfish, worldly motives.

If the House stats Repub, I'll tone down my own anger and maybe even some of my personal rhetoric. If the Houses goes Dem, I'll take that as a sign to step it up.

God is on the side of justice and peace, especially as regards children and the frail.

The Right thinks it knows the best path to that, and so does the Left.

What a way for God to work through the body politick!
