I wonder if the rich young ruler ever turned to Christ. Surely he heard the news that Jesus had risen from the dead! Surely he heard about Lazarus, three days dead, and pulled back through the gates of death! Surely he heard that Peter preached to a multitude of people, and everyone heard him in their own language!
I wonder.

Woah! what great art! You did that? beautiful!
I think that a lot of people get the wrong message from the parable of the Rich Young Ruler.
Most people think that the message is "Sell all that you own, and give to the poor."
The REAL Message in the story of the Rich Young Ruler is "Seperate yourself from your Idol. Whatever is MOST important to YOU, forsake THAT for God."
Giving to the poor was merely a by-product... A convenient way for the RYR to dispose of his assets.
I don't believe that he ever found Salvation.
He went away sorrowful, because for him, the price of Salvation was too high.
He is in the Bible not as an example, but as a warning.
And, BTW, the artwork is extremely beautiful!
You are indeed a multi-faceted individual, EL...
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me"
--Exodus 20:3-5
Thank you. I have gifts I seem incapable making proper use of...
Thanks Dan, thanks Tug
Who says you aren't making proper use of them?
Ditto, Cap'n!
