The Leftist Media...
These self-stylized purveyors of truth, are becoming increasingly transparent in their hatred for their country, their military, their freedoms and way of life.
Consider the following quote, made by Eleanor Clift of Newsweek Magazine during an appearance on "The McLaughlin Group". Transcript

Personal Note: Unbelieveable!!! The Media had lost the high-ground years ago, but this... It's sad that most people will accept Ms. Clift's assessment and run with it; in debates at the workplace and social gatherings. What a world this would be* if only people could see through the rhetoric, the subterfuge, the cloud of flies whirling above the midden heap in which the left are not only standing, but refusing to acknowledge that they're hip-deep therein.
* "..if only..." smacks of Idealism.
Perhaps part of the problem with the Bush-bashing America-hating Left can be summed up by this statement from Jonah Goldberg:
Ghosts of Vietnam, still. Where's a good medium when you need one?

"But I think what we're coming to grips with is the fact that we actually have a mercenary Army. And it doesn't have a nice ring to it. We call it "volunteers," but we're basically paying people to serve their country. And if you're going to pay people and have a mercenary Army, you're going to have to pay the market rate. And so the bounties are going up - more money for tuition, higher enlistment bonuses - and I think it's appropriate."

"A professional wordsmith such as yourself should understand that mercenary troops have no loyalties, no ties and no bonds to any nation. They fight not for duty, flag or country but for selfish gain. They have no regard for political ideology and no respect for national interests. Often, at the first sign of resistance, mercenary troops turn and run.
"Those qualities do not describe U.S. troops,..."

Eleanor Clift may have used the wrong word when she said "mercenary," but the idea that she was speaking of was pure truth. If the army wants to recruit more people then they have to raise enlistment bonuses, college tuition bonuses and pay rates. If you read the entirety of the transcript you will see that this is what Miss Clift was talking about.
Your knee-jerk reaction only shows that you don't actually care to discuss issues. You'd rather just scream and rant about how half the coutry are idiots or deluded.
Knee Jerk! You crack me up! You're a fine one to speak of Screaming and Ranting.
I did read the entire transcript, and while yes, her use of the word "mercenary" was unfortunate, her use was deliberate.
