If Americans would simply stop bickering amongst themselves... Democrats against Republicans, Liberals against Conservatives, Pacifists against Pragmatists... we may be able to forestall what's coming. May.
Anyone who believes Iran can be bargained with, or that Iran poses no real threat to the United States... well, any and all such persons should be prevented from contributing to the gene pool. I know that's harsh, but it's how I feel. Too many people want to cry and moan over America's killing of innocent women and children, used by terrorists as shields, while steadfastly refusing to look at the 3,000+ deaths, many with no remains accounted for, murdered by terrorists. They are willing to flog America for her sins, but completely unwilling to flog the living daylights out of terrorists. Instead, the terrorists must coddled.
Such people should never be allowed in positions of authority where any serious decision regarding human life, let alone its inherent value, might come up. They are completely unfit for the work ahead. As for the rest of us, it's time to get out of bed, lace up our boots, and prepare to engage the enemy.

...the diplomatic path is looking less hopeful as the new Iranian government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is being seen each week as more hard-line and less rational, after his threat to "wipe Israel off the map."
General Mohammad Kossari, who runs the Revolutionary Guard's Security Department, has announced that "Iran intends to become a superpower and will drive all foreign forces out of our region."
"We have a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization," declared Hassan Abbasi, formerly director of the Revolutionary Guard's Center for Security Doctrines Research, and now chief foreign policy adviser to the new President.

Mr. Abbassi spoke of Tehran's secret plans, which include "a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization." In order to accomplish this, he explained, "There are 29 sensitive sites in the U.S. and in the West. We have already spied on these sites and we know how we are going to attack them." "

In an April sermon, [Former Iranian President Hashemi Rafsanjani] declared that the situation in Iraq posed "a threat because the wounded American beast can take enraged actions, but it is also an opportunity to teach this beast a lesson so it won't attack another country."[Emphasis Added]
Why would Iran be worried about being attacked by the United States? Because it is close to producing a nuclear bomb. It is also working on missiles with the range to strike targets in Europe and North America, though the likeliest vehicles for delivering an Iranian nuke would be its terrorist networks. Hassan Abasi, a senior member of the Revolutionary Guards, recently boasted that Iran had "a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization."
