Tackling Tugboat's Tag

Eric's answer to the Eighties Music Meme:

1-- One 1980s song that has changed your life:

Everybody Wants to Rule the World
--Tears For Fears
I was not at all impressed with 80's music until I heard this. It was also prominently featured at the end of "Real Genius" starring Val Kilmer.

2-- One 1980s song that you can sing all the lyrics:

Aside from the aforementioned song...

Sleeping with the Enemy
--Roger Hodgson

"Had a dream, I was born
To be naked in the eye of the storm
And now it's standing right in front of me
What's it going to do to me? Who knows?"
I saw this video on MTV, circa 1983. Supertramp vocalist, in a loincloth, running in place, while the stars whizzed by like in Star Trek... Huge impact!

3-- One 1980s band you would want on a desert island with you:

Joan Jett & the Black Hearts
Just to keep them from making any more music.

4-- One 1980s band that you are embarrassed you listened to:

Honestly, None. I still like now who I liked then.

5-- One 1980s band that made you cry [or feel really euphoric]:

U2
Specifically, 'The Unforgettable Fire,' 'The Joshua Tree,' and 'Rattle & Hum'
Here was a group that reveled in being themselves; Take it or leave it, this is who we are!

6-- One 1980s band that you wanted to play with:

Def Leppard
Assuming I could avoid the misfortunes that stalked them.

7-- One 1980s band that you wish had never formed:

Twisted Sister
Good Grief! What a joke!

8-- One 1980s band you still listen to:

Swing Out Sister
Late 80's to present day. They're still around.

9-- One 1980s band you want your children to listen to:

U2
Without a doubt
