Carter's Momentary Lapse of Reason...

"I've never been convinced, if you let me inject my Christianity into it, that Jesus Christ would approve [of] abortion..."
Gasp!!!    Praise God, there's hope for him yet!

If your going to post quotes then you need to give attribution. Where did Pres. Carter say this?

It's nice that this man who is a hero and example for all people has your approval, now that he's passed your ideological litmus-test.

I've never understood Christians who will speak out against abortion yet go to the polls and elect Democrats who champion abortion rights.

There's articles all over the place, Ben. But how 'bout this one at the Washington Times?

Ideological Litmus test? You really don't want to go there, Ben. You, after all, have one of your own. I'm fairly certain you'll laugh at this, but here's my answer...

I only care about what is right. And no matter how you spin it, Abortion, in any case you dream up, is still murder... and as such, wrong. That Carter has enough conviction, as a Christian, to speak out against what any Christian worth his salt knows is fundamentally evil, is refreshing. And I applauded him for it... despite the sarcastic, "Gasp!"

D. Elrod,

It's simple. If you are pro life, you support candidates who support solid sexual education and access to birth control to reduce the number of abortions. You support candidates who support access to pre- and post-natal health care, to turn around the embarassingly high rate of infant mortality in this country and help people live long, healthy lives. You support candidates who are troubled by the death penalty, especially with abundant evidence that innocent people are put to death because they are poorly represented at trial.

And, if you support personal freedom, you are troubled by the idea of the government forcing a woman to carry a child to term because of a religious belief.
