Jefferson's Qur'an: Another Perspective

Jefferson had Quran to know his enemies
Ellison spokesman says book represents 'religious tolerance'

"There is no doubt Ellison was right about Jefferson believing wisdom could be 'gleaned' from the Muslim Quran. At the time Jefferson owned the book, he needed to know everything possible about Muslims because he was about to advocate war against the Islamic 'Barbary' states of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Tripoli."

Which is a reasonable assumption. Even those who believe that Jefferson was not at all a Christian thinker, but rather one of those rational philosophers of the day, can identify with this position; for very few people-- generally those who just don't care, about anything --read reference material for the express purpose of acquiring knowledge and understanding to either add to their base of knowledge or to refute opposition. Even those who read such material for enjoyment can't help but categorize, compartmentalize, and store the information they glean for later use. It is naturally human.

Just because a man reads, say, Josephus, doesn't necessarily means he buys into some of the events described in his work, for example; Who, reading The Jewish Wars, is going to buy into his recounting of a heifer, while upon the sacrificial altar, giving birth to a goat in the Temple of God in the months leading up to Rome's seige of Jerusalem and the destruction of Herod's Temple? Certainly not someone who has no faith in the miraculous power of God. They can debate and create theories as to why live baby fish can be found in uncracked duck eggs, but the idea of a cow giving birth to a goat is impossible. These are the very same ones who can't believe that a virgin could possibly conceive without the introduction of sperm to egg.

It is impossible that Jefferson and his American contemporaries would have abandoned a century and a half of Christian influence and culture, the entire length and breadth of this young nation, and look to a book completely outside the scope of Godliness for inspiration in the creation of this nation's founding documents. Especially in light of hundreds of years of distrust of the Moors in Europe and their violent conquest into Europe itself-- incursions that spawned the crusades, no less! Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Dartmouth, each at least two-hundred years old were all founded as Godly institutions of learning. This nation was a Christian nation from its very inception, though it is not so now.

Congressman Ellison, in making claims that Jefferson was influenced by the Quran, is merely projecting his own faith, succumbing to wishful thinking, over the real nature of this nation's founding. Jefferson was a brilliant man, no doubt, but it is highly doubtful he was foolish enough to see anything of genuine merit in the Quran. If our Constitution was inspired, even in part, on Jefferson's supposed admiration for the Quran, why then is America more closely identified with Christianity, the antithesis of Islam?

It's bad enough that the halls of Congress are filled today with the godless representatives of a godless people, with little respect for our nation's history and heritage, but now, with this nation so thoroughly desensitized to the voice of God, 'The People' elect a man who doesn't even know God-- let alone speak for His principles upon which this nation IS founded --but aligns himself instead with such entities as CAIR which has publically stated its desire to see this nation under Islamic Law... Sharia Law. Croaker sacks for women, and public stoning for adultry, immodest dress, rape, or even looking cross-eyed at a 'morality monitor'! And let's not forget honor killings, and female circumcision!

It is impossible, in my estimation, for this nation to have prospered as it has under the barbaric system of Islam. Name one Islamic run nation that has clung to the old ways AND prospered, outside the production of oil? Name one Islamic nation that has freed ALL it's citizens to believe as they choose and seek personal fulfillment in their lives? (With the exception of Turkey, which is a secular nation, and STILL has not risen to the level of freedom most western nations enjoy)

Let's accept the fact that America is only America-- in it's original sense --because we still retain the Constitution and the form of government it describes, though it has been seriously perverted in the last century.

Let's further recognize that what we are witnessing in this nation is a repeat of the Fall of the Roman Empire. And that's fine with me. It simply means the genuine Roman Empire is rising to take its ascendant role in the end times.

Soon the entire world-- or what remains of it --will see a True theocracy, of righteousness and grace, but even that one will end in rebellion and disaster. Proving at long last that Man needs a Savior if he is ever to be free of his Adamic nature. But make no mistake. This world will see death, bloodshed, distruction, and ungodliness on a scale it never dreamed possible before Christ's kingdom arrives... before we are ordered to beat our swords into plowshares and pruning hooks... before the world is ordered to observe a thousand year sabbath.

Even so, Lord Jesus, Come....

I got bad news for you: We've been electing people who don't know God - let alone speak for God's principles - for years now. A century or two, I'd suppose.

Sad? It's the human condition. None of know God. What we know is "through a glass darkly."

Some of us at least try to want to know God and some of those are even elected. As well as some who don't give a whit about God.

In the end, I'd suppose that we're all just varying degrees of ignorant of God, though. As well as varying degrees of a Godly revelation.

Let's get together, then!

You can bring your vision of peace ...I'll bring my necessity of war(although peace is my aim).

Join with me now...and together we can rule the universe!

Good question. Here's another:

Could it be that the Muslim's image of America as a Christian nation is the reason they hate us?

According to my friends who live in Muslim Morocco and who deal with Muslims every day, no.

Could that be a true statement for SOME muslims? Sure. Just as some Christians no doubt hate Muslim nations because they're Muslim.

Doesn't make it mainstream.
